Job Spells in the Internet Age - Hoodoo Voodoo Success and Steady Work Magic

mystical success and money magic spells

We exist in an unprecedented era. There is now internet, a creation which allows text and images to be instantly transferred from person to person. People can have jobs and never ever see their employer or go to an office -- they might not even live in the same state or the same country as the person they work for!

This has an impact on traditional magic spells. Most of your classic old time hoodoo "get a job" or "get business" spells assume you will be interacting directly with the boss or with customers. Some traditional operations of this type include:

  • To have a successful job interview, wash your face with sugar before going to interview.
  • To get a job, sprinkle some salt on the person interviewing you and on the floor of the business.
  • To get customers, wash the floor of the shop with a mixture of your urine, sugar and bluing.
  • For a successful job application, dress your resume with powder such as Steady Work or Van Van.
  • For business success, sprinkle magnetic sand in the cash register.
  • For winning over an interviewer, chew on buckeye root or on John the Conqueror or galangal root while talking to them.

These all have the same problem: if there's no physical shop, no face to face interview, no transfer of physical items, they can't be done.

Nowadays, even to apply for a fast food job you're expected to digitally submit your resume, and it may be automatically rejected by AI before a human ever looks at it. Many people these days don't have physical shops that they do business from, and computers they work through can't be safely washed. Most transactions aren't done with physical money but with credit and debit cards, which the customer keeps and so the merchant can't dress to bring them more cash.

So what can be done to work magic without access to these old fashioned in-person interactions? The answer is to focus on workings that, instead of operating on a specific space, or on the body of a person, to use methods that are on one's own command.

Mojos and gris-gris magic

These popular items are very traditional for luck and success work. You can find several recipes for them in The Hand Book, as well as several techniques for making them. Or you can refer to this old post with a traditional creation method. For what to put in the job getting bag, consider this recipe for a lucky hand or check the Hand Book's numerous recipes.

Because these are meant to be carried and to focus on the user, it doesn't matter if one never meets another interviewer. The job-seeker is the one the magic operates on, to change their luck. If you use a mojo, be sure to always take it with you and do not make the too-common mistake of leaving it in a pocket when you launder your pants.

Candle magic spells

Candles can work in many ways; they can be set on a specific person or burned to improve one's personal situation, such as by drawing luck or reversing misfortune. Some very old spells use color magic alone, and simply choose a color like green (for money and prosperity) or purple (for success) for a working like this; you pick a candle in your appropriate hue and burn it for an hour each day till it's gone. You can also buy multi-colored candles to address several aspects. It's more common in modern hoodoo to also add a dressing oil to the candle, such as Steady Work or Better Business.

There are additionally more elaborate glass encased candles that can be bought for the purpose, already screened or stickered with images that help the work.

If you are doing something like applying for a job with a particular company, even if you don't know the person who would be interviewing you or making the hiring choices, you can write 7 times on a paper the name of the company and place the paper under your burning candle.

Incense spell casts

These are personal favorites of mine for long-distance work. Envision the smoke as your spell being carried through the air, to influence your faraway target. It is also possible to gently smoke electronics like computers by blowing incense smoke across them, in lieu of washing the items (just be careful not to blow ash onto the machine.)

An incense such as Van Van or Arabka Soudagar would be an appropriate blend for getting business or jobs.

A Powerful Spell for Getting Jobs or Business

The three methods can be combined into one very powerful spell. Here is one way of performing it (though you can switch out the formulas with your own favorites as appropriate.)

7-day Better Business or Steady Work candle
Van Van oil
Van Van incense
A green cloth bag
any 7 money drawing herbs (click here for a list)

Prepare the candle by cleaning it with salt water or whisky or a cologne like Florida Water. With a skewer or sharpened pencil, poke 7 holes into the wax on the top of the candle.
Fill the holes with Van Van oil.
Optional: write a paper with the name of the business you want to get a job at, if known. If you do not have a specific job you're trying for, skip this.
Put the candle (over the paper if using) in a safe spot where it can burn undisturbed for several days.
Light the candle and the incense while stating aloud your wish.
While the incense burns, prepare the mojo of the cloth bag and herbs, in accord with your preferred technique (or use the example traditional way described here). Feed it with Van Van oil.
Let the candle remain burning till it goes out by itself. Burn fresh incense daily until the goal is achieved. Keep the mojo likewise until you have achieved your goal.
When finished, dispose of remaining items (ash, glass casing, unwanted mojo) in an appropriate location.

The Ultimate Hoodoo Herbal Incense Guide

Myrrh The other day I made a bath recipe for myself using some artificial myrrh oil (real myrrh essential oil being quite expensive -- about $160 a half ounce as of this writing.) Sniffing it, it called to mind so many other spells that I've done that I realized -- this is THE smell of hoodoo. American hoodoo magic, with its blend of African, Indigenous, and European traditions, has a long history of utilizing various herbs, roots, and materials to create potent spells and rituals. One such ingredient that holds a significant place is myrrh. It is not a native plant to the Americas: commiphora myrrha is native to the Arabian penninsula and Africa. It appears often in the Bible, and because of this was adopted into European high magical traditions. As I mention in my book Conjuration , incense wasn't much used in American hoodoo till the early 20th century, when the "catalogue culture" of De Laurence and others brought to it more high magical tradition and incorpor...

Paper-in-Shoe Spells

A popular and very traditional hoodoo spell, often used for any situation where you need to control someone with magic , is the namepaper-in-shoe spell. It's very easy: you write the target's name 3, 7, or 9 times on a paper (depending on intent and who's giving instruction) then fold it up, sometimes after dressing it with oils or powders, then put it in your shoe. This "keeps the person underfoot" or "stomps out the trouble" or "puts pressure on them" or any other number of metaphors. I have had this work several times over the years. In one instance, I was working for a very unpleasant boss, on a short-term job. It was the last day, and I only had about 3 hours of work left on the project; and I wanted him to up my pay for the day since it almost wasn't worth the trip across town for the amount he was paying me, for only 3 hours. He was very reluctant. So I wrote his name 3 times on a 5-dollar bill he'd given me, and dusted it...

Reconciliation and Return Lover Magic Spells

I would say 9 out of 10 of folks contacting me about magic spells are looking for workings to bring back a lost lover; and I would say 9 of those 10 have already waited too long or otherwise made messes to the point where magic is no longer a good option to help them. For a while I was paying attention to stories of people who succeeded in bringing back their lost lovers with magic spells. I noticed initially a lot of people seemed to have performed the spells themselves, and at first thought that was what made the difference. Over time, however, I met a few people who'd had luck by hiring professional spells, and I even succeeded at several hired cases of my own. That's when I started to realize what the real factor was -- the people who succeeded were performing their spells right away, either by immediately hiring a professional to cast a spell, or by immediately performing a spell on their own. The folks who waited more than about 2 - 4 weeks usually never had luck. ...

Magical Hoodoo Baths - The Original Hoodoo and Voodoo Bath for Luck, Love and Success

One beginning in the tradition of hoodoo should know about the importance of baths. They are vital tools in hoodoo work and cannot be dispensed with.  Many people nowadays don't have bathtubs, and some adaptation can be achieved by way of showers. Other people use a large bowl or bucket of water to pour on themselves in place of a spiritual bath. In olden times, and also in some places today where water on tap isn't common, people will perform their spiritual baths in a river or pond outdoors.  A spiritual bath is similar to a regular bath, but with certain key differences. Spiritual baths are not meant primarily for physical cleansing and so washing items like soap might be taboo depending on the exact bath type. However there are some types of magical bath that do use the multitasking property of soap or other cleansers, and in those cases the cleaning aspect is appropriate to the work. There is some controversy around washing the hair in a spiritual bath. Many people don...

The Intranquil Spirit

(EDIT: Up to date information about the Intranquil Sprit can be found in my book  The Intranquil Spirit , available on Amazon.  This post has some incomplete information which is clarified in the book.) The Intranquility spell is, unfortunately, the first resort of many a rejected lover. In some ways it makes sense -- the more unhappy and forlorn one is about a breakup, the better this idea of making the other partner feel just as much so starts to sound. Unfortunately, this spell is often not well suited to a case. The purpose of the standard Intranquility spell is to have the person be tormented by the spirit until they make contact with you, or whomever the spell is being cast for. This means that if a person is already in good contact with their ex OR if they're one of those people who cannot restrain themselves from initiating contact, then this already is probably not the right spell for that case. If you've had an Intranquility spell cast and you make contac...
